Loose adaption of the movie - Justin and Brian are living separate lives in different cities, raising one twin alone; what happens when their two daughters meet unexpectedly as pre-teens? **STORY IS NOW COMPLETE!**
I’m a married, stay-at-home mom to an incredibly rambunctious nine year old son. I’m also a bit of an artist, painting mostly wildlife on anything I can get my hands on.
I first discovered QAF about a year and a half ago, watched a few clips on YT, ended up buying the entire five season DVD set and never looked back. I’m an avid Brian/Justin shipper, fan fiction reader and I love to write.
The two fandom’s I’ve written fiction in are, QAF and The Monkees.
I'm also willing to make banners for anyone that wants them.
Sequel to "The Wedding Present." Brian continues to explore his evolving relationship with his biological father and grandparents as Fin O'Connor prepares his run for governor with his own partner by his side. *THIS STORY IS NOW COMPLETE*
Hi Kim,Oops, well I’m late to the party as usual, LOL where’s the margaritas? Oh man I’d hate to be Craig right now, Brian is going to kick his butt up between his ears eventually, poor Justin!
I’m glad Brian didn’t give Justin a definite “no fu**king way” when Justin told him about wanting a baby, Ha- I can already see a blond haired, blue eyed, Justin mini-me, even though I think it will be along time in coming.
I also have a feeling now that Adam Stewart is out of jail; Fin, Tony, Brian and Justin haven’t seen the last of him. As Benton said “the guy sounds like a real lunatic”. Great update and looking forward to more, my friend : )
~*~ Hugs, Janet
Hi, my friend! Not too late - just posted this yesterday, and it's been pretty quiet lately. So I appreciate you taking the time to leave me feedback. Yes, both Adam and Craig are not slinking away quietly into the night, but Craig may actually wind up being the worst of the two, at least when it comes to the four men. I think it would be unrealistic to have Adam come stalking back now, but that's not to say that he won't still create some problems. (How's that for a tease? LOL!).
I have much of the next part of this written, so it shouldn't be too long before I can post the next update; then it's onto "Parent Trap." Thanks again for the comments, Janet; and congrats on the wonderful response to your first story post on here! *Hugs* ~Kim
I think this is quickly becoming my favorite story by you : ) Justin and Tony are going to become very close friends by the time this is all over (HA- but not *That* close).
Laurie has finally come to her senses but of course, Craig is blaming Brian and Fin.
Alex trashing the hotel room then taking off, I have a feeling there's more to that though. Then Turner offs himself, what a coward! Great update as always.
The power company is shutting off the power for maintenance, naturally we didn't find out until this morning. I'm trying to get as much done on HIPS as possible. Hopefully I can get it posted today, I'm not sure.~*~ Hugs, Janet
Hi, Janet - well, you'll just have to rush off to the library where they have internet service - ha! Seriously, I'm sorry to hear about your woes; I am really anticipating the rest of your story. And yes, Brian will be having another encounter with Alex coming up, but not before bad ass Craig shows up again - ugh!
I'm so glad that you are enjoying this story! Thanks so much for all the wonderful feedback and the support. *Hugs* ~Kim
I really liked this chapter, but then again I can't think of anything that you've written that I *haven't* liked, ha. Way to go, Justin! bet Craig wishes he'd never shown his face now. Justin just showed everyone who the better man is, and he may have unknowingly helped Fin's campaign too. Great chapter : )
~*~ Hugs, Janet
Hi, Janet! Thank you for trodding through that rather long chapter, my friend; hopefully I didn't throw a lot of boo-boos in there, although I did change some things around. And I suspect you're correct; I think Craig may have just made a huge, logistical mistake, which would be poetic justice in my opinion. Thanks for the feedback and all the support you give me, Janet. I'm now moving onto "Parent Trap;" there're two stubborn men who need to hash out a number of things over there.:) *Hugs* ~Kim
Hi Kim : ) Seems Alex has a hidden talent with her drawing so there may be something her and Justin can connect on. And, despite her and Brian’s differences, he and Justin could give her something she’s never had before, a real, loving home. I think there may be a few more bumps before they truly get there but she’s finally found someone she can trust and I think she’s just beginning to realize that. Somehow I have the feeling that the temporary foster home just may turn out to be a more perminent one.
This was a great chapter, I really enjoyed reading it, oh and BTW, now I’m hungry for cheesecake ; ) Hugs ~ Janet
Hi, Janet, my friend! Thanks for reading and for your comments.;) I've actually made that recipe, and while those fruits can be a pain in the 'you-know-what,' it did turn out wonderfully. Would probably do it again if the need arises.;) I am planning on a nice, long concluding chapter coming up that I think will tie most of the loose ends up, including what happens to Alex and the idea of a baby, along with Fin and Tony, etc. So I hope you continue to enjoy it. Will get it updated just as soon as I can. Thank you again, Janet. Stay in touch! Looking forward to the updates to your own story, too.;) *Hugs* ~Kim
I’m still following this great story ; ) HA- I thought for a minute there Brian was going to fall asleep while Justin was giving him a massage and had to laugh at the comment “I’m in the mood for you to do some riding” since my story is right below yours, haha.
Yikes, poor Tony, I can’t even imagine how he feels being swarmed by the media first thing in the morning, or any time for that matter. It’s a good thing Marty came out and helped him get into the building, that would leave anyone with shaky legs.
Alex is a hard cookie to break, she has a lot of anger and resentment built up inside, but at the same time, I think, really just wants someone to love her and make her feel like she belongs somewhere. I have no doubt Justin and Brian will get through to her. BTW, I love her bedroom, and the cat ; )
As always a wonderful chapter, my friend : ) Hugs ~ Janet
Hi, Janet! Ha - forgot about the cat in the photo. Oops! I don't think we'll be introducing the cat into the story, though, or that will take me ANOTHER chapter to explain LOL! Yeah, the 'riding' did tie in together, didn't it? Yee-haw! I'm glad you're still following the story. I felt so awful about not updating sooner, but hopefully the next time will be a lot faster. Thank you for bearing with me in the meantime. *Hugs* ~Kim
Hi Kim : ) Oh, the pancake breakfast Gus wants sounds good. LOL, I can just imagine the embarrassed look on Justin’s face when Brian teased him about the sex the night before, that was cute ; ) I love the details you put in this, I felt like I was standing right next to Brian and Fin, watching Tony and Justin on the couch.
It’s too bad Alex took off the way she did, hopefully Brian or Justin will find her soon. Looking forward to the next chapter : ) *Hugs* Janet
Hi, Janet! Yeah, that pancake breakfast sounds REAL good, since I'm on a diet - ha! I do love to make Justin blush. I still remember his reaction in bed after Brian picked up his Rage comic book.;p)
The boys will be on a mission to find a certain wayward child in the next chapter. Thanks for reading, and for being so supportive with your feedback, my friend. *Hugs* ~Kim
Hi Kim- Gotta’ love Fin and Tony, those two were just made for each other, much like Brian and Justin ; ) Hope they find out who leaked the engagement to the press though. Seems maybe Alex is feeling better about where she fits into B/J’s lives and who knew she could play the guitar? LOL, could there possibly be a guitar solo at a certain upcoming wedding?
Brian’s “Hitting a Jersey at 50 mph” line made me laugh, I know it’s not funny but all of a sudden I had this cartoon image stuck in my head of a headlight- lit cow with HUGE eyes and her bottom jaw dropped in the classic “deer in the headlights look” ; ) Great chapter, my friend : ) *Hugs* Janet
Hi, Janet! I do love Fin and Tony's characters, and I see them as an older version of B and J, and perhaps what it could be like for them down the road. As for Alex, I do think she is craving some permanence, and this is her best chance at achieving that. Not sure if she is that good a guitar player yet, and not sure if Tony's nerves can take another type of stress.;)
And no, I don't condone animal cruelty - ha! But I couldn't resist the Jersey joke.;) Thank you reading and for the comments, Janet! I'm thinking of you. *Hugs* ~Kim
Hi Kim : ) I liked the description of the gazebo with the flowers, and the cake sounded delicious, Emmett was pretty funny as well. Brian and Justin’s love really shone through while they were getting ready for the wedding and Fin and Tony’s vows were……wow! Emmett was right, very romantic. On a side note- have you ever thought of moonlighting as a marriage vow writer? LOL.
I really enjoyed this newest chapter, looking forward to seeing (reading) what happens next : ) *Hugs* Janet
Hi, Janet, my friend! You're very kind to read and review; thank you.;) I'm always nervous whenever I write marriage vows, because I'm never sure if I'm doing them justice. But I can't just use the pat (standard) vows, so I always wind up writing my own. I'm glad you approve of them. I may have to look into that job - ha!
Hope you and your family had a good Thanksgiving! I've just spent the last two days at the hospital with my mom, but looks like (fingers crossed) that she may come home tomorrow. Thanks again, my friend, for all your support and your friendship. ~Kim
Hi Kim : ) Sorry I’m just now reviewing, been without Wi-Fi for almost two weeks and just got it back on : / Ahhh, I think Gus is about to get a new big sister ; ) the conversation between Gus and Alex was really sweet and I like how she let him help her with the scrapbook. I know I’ve said this before but I love Fin and Tony, those two are perfect for each other. I hope Adam isn’t going to be able to cause too much trouble, especially if he gets out on bail. This is getting angsty, love it, LOL. Looking forward to the next part : )*Hugs* Janet
Hi, my friend! I'm sorry, too, that's it taken me so long to respond to your review. I, too, love Tony and Fin. I would definitely revisit them in the future if I can come up with a good plot for it. And yes, Alex is slowly improving and becoming a part of the family. I think she is the kind of person who shows her vulnerability and anxiety by acting out, at least until she can be sure this is not a temporary type thing.
I'm thinking maybe 2, 3 more chapters? Thanks again for always being so supportive, both on here and off. Hope you and your family are doing well and staying warm! *Hug* ~Kim
Hi Kim : ) Alex has really come a long way from the smart mouthed kid she was when Brian and Justin first met her, and I loved her excitement when the guys told her they wanted to adopt her. She’ll make a great addition to the family. Looking forward to the last part : ) *Hugs* Janet
Hi dear frend! Yes, I went back and forth throughout the story about my decision regarding Alex. But I think deep down I always meant for her to be adopted; I felt in light of Brian being adopted - and the not-so-fairy-tale life he led with his adoptive parents - that he was in a unique place to provide a much better experience for another child. So it made sense to me for her to become a member of the family.;)
I will be wrapping up some loose ends in the next part. Not sure how long Mel and Brian can exist in the same household, though - ha! Thank you for reading this latest part, and especially for commenting.;) Looking forward to more of your own stories as well as you get time.:) ~Kim
Hi Kim : ) Oh boy what I wouldn’t give to be in that back yard right now - Ha. I liked the “fishing” talk going on between Brian and Justin, that was good and Alex will make a great addition to the family : ) Great chapter ,Kim, looking forward to the epilogue : ) *Hugs* Janet
Hi, Janet! Yeah, I could use a nice dip in a pool somewhere - so hot and humid here right now. The humidity is what kills me the most; hate it. Ugh.
I'm glad you're still reading and enjoying the story, my friend. Thank you for all the support. *Hugs* ~Kim
LOL, I don’t blame Alex, math was probably my worst subject in school. Ha- giving Alex a weapon – Deb, what are you thinking? Loved how B/J convinced Alex it was okay to call them “dad and papa” though.
That last part with Brian showing Justin the nursery, that was so sweet, I could just picture the whole thing. You really did an amazing job with this story, my friend and it was a pleasure to read it : ) *Hugs* Janet
Hi, Janet! Yeah, confused_bliss is the dark Brian writer, I'm the sweet Brian writer - ha! Seriously, thank you for reading, and especially for your kind comments. And yeah, I couldn't write Alex without her still retaining some of her rebelliousness, or it wouldn't really be IC for her, I think.
I'm glad you liked Justin's present. I know HE did! I may visit them again one day. :) Thanks again, my friend. ~Kim
Hey, Kim, Great up date as always : )
I liked the fact that Brian just happened to have a bottle of Ibuprofen with him- he’s still taking care of Justin, even after all this time.
I wonder what kind of trouble Alex is going to try to cause, he’s not going to like that Justin is at Britin with Brian and it’s no small secret that he isn’t too fond of Kaylee either. I have a feeling that neither one of the girls is going to put up with Alex trying to come between Justin and Brian, Oh I can’t wait for the next up date. Ha- I’m chewing my fingernails already. ~*~ Hugs, Janet
HI, Janet; thank you for those kind words, my friend; I'm glad to finally get this one updated. It's been way too long for my taste; darn people making me work for a living - ha! And yes, you know Brian; he always just seems to 'accidentally' do what his friends or loved ones need for him to do, doesn't he?:)
Alex will most likely show up in the next chapter, and Brian no doubt will NOT like it (tee-hee; I LOVE a jealous Brian - ha!). But something tells me he won't be sticking around for too long; I think these two boys have been tortured long enough.:)
Thanks so much for taking the time to comment, Janet; and I'm waiting eagerly for updates to your own story (hint, hint). Take care and have a great week! *Hugs* ~Kim
Hi Kim, I really liked this. Loved both Brian and Justin's memories of Pride night, makes me want to go watch that episode again : )
Alex is just plain, dumb! I laughed though when Gus threw him out, would loved to have seen that, haha.
LOL, you might want to tell Justin that if he's going to do much horseback riding, he might want to invest in some boots. Those stirrups are murder on the ankels. Great update and looking forward to another one : ) ~*~ Hugs, Janet
Hi, Janet! Thanks for reading and for the comments, my friend.:) I confess I don't know a lot about horseback riding, so I might have to plead the fifth and hope you'll allow me a little license in Justin being able to ride. I think Brian might have to give him a little 'boost' into the saddle by his ass (poor Brian - getting the hard jobs - ha!). The 'talk' should be quite interesting (wink, wink).
Thanks for your own update, too, BTW; really enjoying your story! *Hugs* ~Kim
Jeez, I almost had to hook up the swamp cooler again with that scene in the cabin, LOL ( loved the pictures BTW). Had to laugh at the antics of the girls and Gus in the barn. Loved it! looking forward to the next chapter : )
~*~ Hugs, Janet
Hi, Janet! Thanks for reading and for the comments, my friend! I'm glad you liked their little cabin scene (wink, wink). I thought poor Brian had suffered enough. And I did enjoy writing about the kids at the end; of course they would have to check it out - ha! I'll get this updted again very soon - thank you again for all the support you give me.:) *Hugs* ~Kim
I’m late reviewing again, as usual : / this was such a great chapter though, I could just imagine the look on Brian and Justin’s faces when the girls told them what they did : )
I also liked the wine and watercolors idea for a date, LOL, although the cop at the end kind of wrecked their mood, that was funny. Another wonderful chapter, my friend, and congrats on reaching 500 reviews : ) Hugs ~ Janet
Hi, Janet! Thanks for reading and for the well wishes. First story in which I have achieved that plateau, so it does make me happy to see it.;) I appreciate everyone's support of this story. I thought this was a good place for Brian to take Justin on their 'date.' Was wracking my brain about an inventive/creative sort of date to take him on, and this came to me eventually. I will probably have a couple more chapters of this to go before it's all said and done. Thanks for the comments, my friend! I truly appreciate that. Looking forward to more of your own story, too. *Hugs* ~Kim
Hey Kim. (LOL, keep wanting to write HAY instead of hey) congratulations on the blue ribbon, my friend. Well deserved : ) Hugs ~ Janet
Well, you've got hay on the brain right now with your new story, so I forgive you - LOL! Thanks for the good wishes. Speaking of 'hay,' I think the boys in my next "Stallion" update might just be about to participate in a 'roll in the hay' of their own (wink, wink). *Hugs* ~Kim
Brian is a nineteen-year-old, rebellious young man who runs afoul of the law and is sent to live with an aunt and uncle he doesn't even know in a last-ditch effort to straighten out his life. Will his experience there - and who he meets along the way - change his life for better or for worse? Teenage Brian/Justin AU story. *THIS STORY IS NOW COMPLETE*
Hi Kim, I've been looking forward to this update, I think this is probably one of my favorite stories that you're currently writing. I can't help the feeling that True Blue had something to do with Dale's death since he was once owned by Brian's aunt and uncle.
LOL, loved the part when Will needed Brian's help pulling the calf, I could almost see Brian's eyes popping out of his head. Great update ~*~ Hugs, Janet
Hi, Janet! I'm so glad you're enjoying this story, my friend. I'm getting a big kick out of writing this teenage B and J story, and especially placing Brian so much out of his comfort zone.:) Rage to the rescue - ha! BTW - you're kind of on the right track regarding True Blue; there will be more of the explanation of Dale's death coming up in the next chapter, along with more cows! LOL! (No births again, though).. Thanks again for all the support; I really appreciate that. *Hugs* ~Kim
Ha- Brian is funny when he's drunk, but I bet he's going to have a whopper of a hangover the next day. Craig's favoritism of Jared over Justin continues to show, and Jared can't stand the fact that Brian has the hots for Justin. I think eventually his jealousy is going to bite him in the butt. Can't wait for the next update and I really want some blueberry cobbler! ~*~ Hugs, Janet
Hi, Janet - me, too - and pumpkin pie, and strawberry shortcake and butter pecan ice cream... uh, where was I? LOL! Oh, yeah! I think you're right - Jared's pride has been wounded, so he will have to lash out one more time at a minimum with some pretty dire results, at least in the short term. But eventually he's going to realize he is wasting his time - Brian has found his match.;)
Thanks for reading and for the comments, my friend; I can always count on you for support.:) *Hugs* ~Kim
Jared really needs to be locked in a small stall with that mean steer, for about an hour. I like him about as much as I like my bad guy, haha. Can't wait for the next chapter : ) *~* Hugs, Janet
Hi, Janet! That's an idea - let's pair up Glen with Jared; I think they deserve each other - ha! Thanks for reading and for the comments, my friend.:) *Hugs* ~Kim
Ah, the chapter I've been waiting for : ) I wonder what Jared and Emmett's plan is though, not good I'm afraid. Hopefully Emmett will come to his scenses and realize he's been had.LOL, I really hope Jared gets what's coming to him. Great start to the town social and looking forward to the next part, Kim. : ) *~* Hugs, Janet
Hi, Janet! Thanks for the comments, my friend. It's kind of a mess here right now, isn't it? LOL! But don't worry, I'll get them fixed up soon and Jared will get what's coming to him. Emmett's a very smart boy - I don't think he will be duped for very long, even if he IS enamored with the arrogant, older brother. Thanks again for the comments and for reading; you know how much that means to me. *Hugs* ~Kim
Loved this, as always : ) It’s good to see Justin’s parents, especially Craig, coming to terms with Brian and Justin’s growing relationship. I feel he’s beginning to realize that Brian is good for Justin and vice versa although the summer does eventually have to end, hopefully the guys will find a way to be together.
LOL, I have a feeling Brian and True Blue are going to be getting along just fine and I don’t think it’s ridiculous at all that Brian is talking to the horse, I talk to mine all the time- HA. Looking forward to the next update : ) Hugs ~ Janet
Hi, Janet - so good to hear from you.;) I hope you had a good Thanksgiving, my friend. I'm glad that you liked this chapter. Yeah, I think even Craig is beginning to realize that Brian does, indeed, genuinely care for Justin. There will be more developing between Brian and Dale's race horse. And at some point his parents will be making an appearance to check up on him; they have been distinctly absent up until now, but in the not so distant future a decision will have to be made regarding Brian's fate.
Thanks so much for reading and commenting, Janet. That means so much to me. Keep in touch! *Hugs* ~Kim
I’m very sorry to hear about your dad, my condolences to you and your mom.
I really liked this chapter and I have a feeling that everything is going to come to a head soon. I can understand Craig and Jennifer’s concern for Justin’s’ well being, especially around his brother, but Jared’s willingness to try to get a confession out of Doug shows there’s still some brotherly love there. Maybe Jared’s not a lost cause after all ; ) I also wonder what Justin’s reaction will be when he hears why Doug drugged him (if Billy lets him listen in).
It will be interesting to see what happens with Brian and True Blue. As always, a great chapter, my friend : ) Hugs ~ Janet
Hi, Janet - thank you for your kind words. It will take some time, especially for my mom, who feels lost without my dad.
I appreciate you reading this latest chapter and the feedback. As you mentioned, there is still quite a bit more to tell with this story, and the next one will be a pivotal chapter in terms of getting some much-needed information about Doug's motives behind his spiking Justin's drink as well as shedding some light on what might have happened to Dale. Thank you again for the comments and the sympathy; both are very much appreciated. *Hugs* ~Kim
Loved it, as always. I think “Stallion” is one of my all time favorite B/J stories, and the fact that it has a horse in it has absolutely nothing to do with it, not much anyway, haha.
It’s nice to see Craig is more accepting of Brian’s interest in his son now, and I would have liked to have seen his face when Brian agreed with him ; )
LOL, glad to see Justin knows what a dogie is.
Poor Brian, having his parents show up, only to find out that, his uncle is dead and, all Jack and Joan want is the money his uncle left him. And, with that little seed of doubt Joan planted, I have a feeling Will and Sarah are going to have to do some fast talking to convince him that he isn’t a replacement for Dale.
Great chapter, my friend. Looking forward to more : ) Hugs ~*~ Janet
Hi, Janet! So great to see you back online.;) Thanks for reading this rather long chapter, and for your comments; I was starting to feel a little lonely here tonight.;) (As Three Dog Night said, one is a lonely number - ha!). BTW, I didn't really mean to copy your "Dogie" idea, but I didn't want one of Justin's better assets being compromised, and one thing led to another, and, well...you know - LOL!
And yes, in the next chapter, Brian's aunt and uncle will have to reassure their nephew that they care about him in his own right, and are not just using him as a substitute for their son. And Brian may have to be the one that is comforted by Justin this time.;)
I'm finally down to just two WIPs, so I'm hoping that will speed up my updating schedule; will do my best. Thanks again for still following this story, Janet; I really appreciate the support. And I'll be looking forward to updates on your own stories. *Hugs* ~Kim
Hi Kim, Loved this as always : ) what a shock for Brian to find out he's inherated so much money and what a shock for Justin when True Blue walked up to Brian, haha. LOL, I have a feeling I know what the "totally outlandish and impossible" thing is but I won't give it away ; )
BTW, not sure if you realize it or not but the chapter is posted twice. The first part restarts right after Justin mentions the outlandish/ impossible part.
Hi, Janet! Ugh. I was not aware of the repeat part - I fixed it; thanks for the heads up. Only excuse is having too many projects going on at one time. BTW, got your email; it's crazy here this month but as soon as I can I'll send an email back. ;)
Thanks for taking the time to read and especially review, dear friend. As for the guess about the ending...hmm....I probably need to consult you as an expert coming up.;) Looking forward, speaking of which, for your own updates (hint, hint) and glad to hear they may be imminent. Thanks again. *Hugs* ~Kim
